KREYOL SYNDIKAT

Maintenant Voila! Kreyol Syndikat qui arrive! -- Parlez - vous le francais?... No?

The French reggae band "Kreyol Syndikat" has arrived! This musical synergy of the black diaspora has exploded into Kreyol Syndikat where members hail from the hot tropics of the French Caribbean as well as the West Coast of Africa. The band, now based in Paris, France, release their US debut titled "UNITE."

In keeping with the tradition of Roots Reggae with a world beat influence, the band eloquently addresses the themes on unity, fraternity, peace, love and spiritual well-being. Though the songs may be song in French Creole, the vibe is still universal, breaking all barriers of language, creed and color.

The band first created a buzz among the youth in France with their hard hitting lyrics addressing issues like crime, drugs and other social dysfunctions. The more exposure the band gained in Europe while touring the more of a demand there was to for them to record. In 1993 they independently released their first recording "Roots Natty" which was a musical revelation to the journalists and followers of reggae music. Their constant touring has made them not only one of the tightest units on the reggae scene but one of the most in demand bands.

RAS on lead vocals, captures nearly all the bands music. Riddim-man extraodinare Sly, controls the riffs on rhythm guitar. Naz on percussion's, has nearly a dozen instruments pass through his hands. Sly and Naz take acre of backing vocals. On bass, Lagos is one of the founding members, he creates all the original bass lines for the band. Drums are controlled by Dennis, Ibis's brother. He has created a fusion traditional and electronic drumming and taken it to a whole new level.

When you hear the effervescence and vitality of KREYOL SYNDIKAT, you will surely classify them alongside reggae band greats like Third World, and Steel Pulse. The Album's grooves are fresh, the rhythms are infectious and no matter what language the music still translates to another great TUFF GONG artist.
