Rita Marley Music Inc.,
located at 220 Marcus Garvey Drive, Kingston 11, Jamaica, is the record
label of the Queen of Reggae, Mrs. Rita Marley.
The label also hosts all the recordings of the I-Three
for the Caribbean market, as well as for Dhaima Mathews and the Ethiopian
Dread internationally. The merchandising for these acts and requests for
film appearances are handled by this entity. Rita Marley
appeared in "The Mighty Quinn" starring Denzel Washington and
she is currently reading scripts and considering some of the roles offered
to her.
Rita Marley Music's latest project is the Natty Queen Divas album which is a compilation of sizzling hot tracks from Jamaica's leading female vocalists. The album features: Rita Marley, Marcia Griffiths, Judy Mowatt, Carlene Davis, Sister Carol, Pam Hall, Cherry Natural, the I-Three, Dhaima, and the newest Jamaican singing sensations, The Marley Girls. The Marley Girls consists of Sharon and Cedella Marley along with Erica Newell --the female side of the Melody Makers. Their contribution to the album is the hit single, "Girls Night Out". Mrs. Marley personally signs acts and products to the label as well as handling the negotiation of deals for the worldwide licensing and distribution of Rita Marley Music products. Currently, Tabata Musica Y Letra S.L., Spain, has rights to Rita Marley Music's new "Natty Queen Divas" album (Spain) and "Rita Marley's Greatest Hits" album (worldwide excluding Caribbean, Japan, USA and Canada). Sound Terminal Ltd. owns distribution rights (Japan) to "Natty Queen Divas", "Rita Marley's Greatest Hits","Ethiopian Dread" and a limited edition of 20,000 copies of "Bob Marley Live in Pittsburgh". There are deals with other companies such as Heartbeat for "The Marley Family" album and Shanachie for Rita Marley's "Who Feels It Knows It" album, among others. |
