"As CEO of Tuff Gong International, I try to develop the potential of young artists. Knowing this, my brother (Stephen) reminded me to give an ear to a youth named Kevin. He was always hanging out at the Bob Marley Museum singing and playing guitar. Even then his raw talent was obvious to everyone who heard him . I am proud to introduce to the world YVAD, an artist sure to touch each listener in a special way."
-- Cedella Marley

Every now and then a new singer comes along with the raw potential to revolutionize the music industry. For some, the potential is never realized, but for those who deliver, the rewards have been great. It will be interesting to see how posterity judges Yvad, because in show business terms, he's got what it takes.

Yvad was born Kevin Davy in Kingston, Jamaica. When he was two years old his parents sent him to the country to escape political violence. In the peace and quiet of the country, he attended school and church, and discovered his love for music. His experience was born in the Moravian Church, where he began singing, playing guitar, and became a member of the choir.

Yvad was at school with his friends when he formed a singing group. As time passed, he realized that he lived for the moments when they were singing together. He also found that through song-writing he could record his inner-most thoughts in his pensive moments. As his personal sound developed, Yvad, normally a shy and reticent person, found his voice in music.

"At the time I was in search of something, something deep inside me. Music inspired me, and I have found myself", Yvad declared. He eventually embraced Rastafari, which proved inspirational for him; and believes that if one truly listens to their soul they may learn a lot. His recently released album, Young, Gifted & Dread has garnered international attention with debut single, "We Need Love." While in Jamaica to film a "Reggae Rocumentary", MTV Europe interviewed Yvad and was captured by his enthralling live performance at the Tuff Gong Studios. BET's Caribbean Rhythms devoted an entire show to Yvad and introduced him to nationwide audiences. This show featuring Yvad remains one of the most requested programs on BET's Caribbean Rhythms. His music will cut an alternative path for those who look to music for more than mere entertainment.
